As above lads ive had prob the stupidest idea ever but before i go for it i need tuning advice.. Anything and everything you know:ct:

What tuning bits can be done to these engines?
Is there any chips or mapping available?

Its only an idea at the min but it would be a once off and be competeing in UDC next year if it works:cool:

Richard Bradley from Bradley Motorworks, aka Fast Cav, is a dab hand with the Vauxhalls from what i hear. Maybe getting in touch with him would shine a bit of light on the 24v for ya...

There's not much in the way of of the shelf tuning for these. To start off check the fuel pressure regulator, if not done already swap it for a 4.0 bar version, then get rid of the dual ram section of the manifold, or swap the vac hose from the sensor part straight to the actuator arm valve, this will ensure the second ram is open all the time, gets rid of that flat spot at around 3000rpm. There's nothing as far as I am aware of with cams as everybody robs the 3.0 cams for the 2.5 lumps. Go for a panel filter as vauxhalls hate cone filters due to engine bay temperatures.

Swap the flywheel for a lightened version(which ain't cheap at £250), doesn't give any more power but the original one is around 15kg and the lightwieght ones are around 6kg!! Let's the engine rev a lot quicker!!

Then the usual decat and remove the center silencers from the exhaust. No chips available iirc but a remap will help

Cheers Blackie man, sum gud things there to try and mess around with:ct: tho (straight to the actuator arm valve) this has me confused tho man :hmmm:

I found a place in Germany that does front and rear strut braces, coilovers, lowering springs but does'nt seem to be much else:hmmm:

i remember hearing from some1 that them engine's like having back pressure so keep the cats in, not sure if ther is any truth in this but as nicky said richard is the man to speak to

from what i can gather they like back pressure if thats what they're mapped to have ie standard map, i haven't seen many rally cars sporting a hi resistance exhaust, but when you get into mapping your getting to money, i found it cheaper to move into the skyline than spend anymore money on the carlton

Jap powered Carlton / Senator / Omega for ultimate power and steer-ability. Go on, someone do it! :D

I'll get a picture of what I have done to mine up tomorrow for you mate, might have to clean the engine though LOL!!!

Trust me, I have spent some hours on the internet looking for stuff for these, and either its ridiculous prices, or you have to make your own stuff!! LOL!

The fuel pressure regulator, panel filter and the multi ram mod I mention do make a difference, no flat spot and seems to have a stronger cleaner torque line, though I have not had mine rolling roaded yet to see what difference it has actually made.

Total Vauxhall did a feature on adding a supercharger to these engines, though I never read into it in much detail, but that might be an idea for ya!!
