View Full Version : Head Gasket on a CA18DET

im tinking of buying a 200sx with the head gasket gone on it.
what wud it cost me to fix it? anything else i shud look out for when i go to look at it?
any other info on this engine wud be much appreciated!

Then u buy a car with some problems in engine,u must keep in mind that u could need all engine.Even if its not rinning,or not running properly.becouse then u will take off head ,u could found more problems,as bad pistons,cracked head or damaged cylinders.So keep in mind!

aye ws talking in general, seen a few 200sx's for sale with the head gone including that 1! wish id bn a bit quicker nw she is sold. :mad:

TBH lad id go for a car thats running, ive had to bin an SR20 due to the head getting battered by a rocker arm and it was as cheap to get another engine than fix it.. and i knew there was sumthing mechanicaly wrong when i bought it in japland, (only binned it for a new generation engine):D but took a chance because it really was to gud a price.... Unless your a decent mechanicaly minded/handed fella you will regret buying a non runner:(

Just my 2cents and experiance so far anyway...

still considering buying 1with the head gone but i will be abit more weary now
