We are just off the back of a successful start to the Bishops Court winter series of events, with this relatively low key affair heralding the return of low budget circuit racing to Bishops Court. The spectator crowd included about 100 racers there to spy on the opposition.

Based upon the cars I have lined up to fit roll cages in, this series is going to really take off. We even have some of the country’s top Drifters crossing over to Test their METAL!!! I’ll not mention names for now… but all I gotta say is … Who in the UDC pulls the biggest angles and burns the most Smoke??? His initials are not BM and neither are his brother’s!

Our 2 MR2′s were out just on a Demo, yet still managed 2nd , 1st and 2nd in the Touring Car class. No.20 MR2 is now sold. Black No.21 is available for sale either as it sits (£800) or fully prep’d (£1100)

From 4th Dec (Round 2) we will have this offer…

We are now running TRACK, RACE + DRIFT days…

* Track Day sessions on NEW 1.7 mile race track.

* Drift Sessions on X-Track as usual

* PLUS the new budget Racing Series!!!

Standard cars (no cage, etc) can run in Track Day + Drift sessions.

Fully prep’d cars can run in all 3 sections.

***£50 entry fee covers all!***

Car Requirements:

Track Day + Drift Sessions __ Standard Car (Harness seatbelt for Driver & Passenger RECOMMENDED), Helmet essential

Racing _______ Full roll cage, Harness, Extinguisher, single layer Race Suit, Helmet… All ESSENTIAL.

Word on the grapevine is that there are a lot of cars in the building process for this new series, both as standard (Touring) cars and in the GT/Modified Class.

The OPEN Class stands to gain some very interesting entries as the Grassers tune into our new series.
These lads are used to a track approx 3 – 400 metres around. The new Bishops Court track is ***1.7 MILES*** around, making each 4 lap race 6.8 Miles!

This new incarnation of a combined Drifting & Circuit Racing event seems to be a comfortable fit.
The mixture of action proved great for spectators and also provided drivers with a fresh alternative to what they are used to. I fully expect to see drivers crossing over from one discipline to the other to try their skills against fresh opposition.

I will certainly be looking forward to getting back out there myself and looking for another win!

The style of Drag Racing, or Drag Sprints as they are sometimes known, run by SWRC is the most accesible form of motorsport in existence. The only requirements to participate are: Driving License, Helmet and vehicle.

Type of Vehicle: Car, Quad, Bike, Trike or whatever you fancy

You do not even need a hot car. The competition is you versus the clock, so even your daily driver will help you gain the full race experience.

On race day you will have the chance to line up against all manner of competition, from completely standard road saloons to the fastest street bike in the world; the amazing 708 Bhp, 271 mph Holeshot Hayabusa Turbo!

On your first race day you will automatically be entered into the Irish Drag Racing Championship. See you at the next round!

DRIFTING

SWRC run Drift competitions for all levels of driver, from the complete novice to the DRIFT ELITE.

The entry level for many is at the novice practice arena. Here the only requirements are a helmet and a 4 point harness seatbelt.

To take part in actual drift competition, cars must be track prepared. A list of guidelines and regulations can be found here:

Winter Series Drifting: With this year’s Winter Series we will endeavour to provide our loyal petrol headed followers with more of what they crave… loads of TRACK TIME and loads of TWIN DRIFTING.

To free up a lot of time in the schedule we have loosened up on the structure. To enable us to do so we have decided to run the Winter Series as purely ‘FUN’ events. Ie, whilst there will be an abundance of twin drifting / battles, there will not be any actual competition. As a result of this, we can provide everyone with even more track time and in a fun, relaxed environment. Exactly what the off-season should be like. This will enable drivers to pair up against anyone they like, as many times as they like, without being knocked out of a Top 16 elimination tournament.

Of course drivers do not HAVE to twin drift. Drivers new to the sport are equally as welcome to do solo runs, to hone their skills without having to lead or closely follow another car. The minimum car requirements for participation in these events is a harness seatbelt for driver and passenger.

Read below for something new that is also available to our Drifters (those with fully prep’d cars, roll cage, etc)…

SWRC Race Series: The long anticipated return of low budget circuit racing is finally upon us! This time we are back with new classes and a fresh approach. Originally we intended to only run one class but fans of low cost motorsport far and wide sought us out. So in an effort to provide a day’s craic for people of like minds but with diverse machinery, we are making our classes available to a wide range of vehicles. Basically, if it has 4 wheels, is safe, looks good and goes well then it is eligible to race.

We aim to be running 3 divisions from the very first day.

* Touring Cars … Standard cars with very limited Mod’s
* GT/Modified … Modified & High Performance cars
* Open Class … Space Frame, Open Wheel

Details of the Touring Car class can be found here:

Any vehicle that falls outside these Reg’s may still participate in our GT or Open Class. Any enquiries can be quickly answered by calling 07791 976672 or via email: info@sideways-racing.com

“SWRC are committed to bringing back a low budget circuit racing series.

With so much interest from a wide variety of machinery, we aim to be
running 3 divisions from the very first day.

* Touring Cars … Standard cars with very limited Mod’s
* GT-Modified … Modified & High Performance cars
* Open Class … Space Frame, Open Wheel

To start with we will be running a 4 round Winter Series, alongside the Drifting at Bishops Court. Annually we expect to run 8 – 10 race events,
extending to other venues as the Series becomes established in its own right.

Entry fees at Bishops Court will be just £50. For this drivers can expect:

Practice + 2 Heats + Final.

This entry fee also allows drivers the option to take part in Track Day sessions and even Drift sessions.

The Reg’s outlined below are for the TOURING CAR class. The safety requirements listed extend to all other divisions. Any typical GTi would be
ideal for this class. Already drivers have begun obtaining an interesting variety of machinery that will lead to some very close racing.

With cars such as the BMW E36 325i now obtainable for as little as £500, the potential for this budget class seems boundless. Coupled with the extremely
low running costs (EG: tyres last for months rather than minutes!) we believe that a revival of low budget circuit racing is very timely.

We invite enquiries on any aspect of this new racing series. Your calls, emails or texts are very welcome!”

If any questions arise in relation to this subject, please feel free to ask.

I can be reached directly on wayne@sideways-racing.com or on 07791 976672

SWRC – Circuit Racing Regulations

In addition to the racing classes defined in these regulations, it remains our goal to add more classes as soon as entry numbers permit. If you find that your car falls outside of these regulations, please contact SWRC to discuss how we might best accommodate you. Our desire is to include you, not exclude you. We will endeavour to make low cost motor racing to enthusiasts from a variety of
motor sport backgrounds.

TOURING CAR Class - Circuit Racing Reg’s 2011/2012

Eligible cars are only those models manufactured from 1991 – 2001

The Classes we currently run are: TOURING CAR GT-MODIFIED

New next classes that we hope to add are:

* The T-16 Class is for cars up to 1600cc NA and based on the Touring Car Reg’s. This class will come to life as soon as there are sufficient entries to justify a new division. Until then we would encourage drivers with cars eligible for this class to come along and race with the bigger cars. This is the only way we can be sure that the demand is there. You might even surprise yourself with how competitive you can be!

* GT16 2wd cars up to 1600cc NA, modified beyond the restrictions for the 1600 Touring Car class (T-16)

* GT2 __ * GT1 __ As soon as the demand exists we will define separate divisions for 2wd, 4wd, NA, Turbo cars.

* The OPEN Class is as the name suggests, a class open to all manner of competition cars including open wheeled, purpose built racing cars. This should result in some very entertaining dices!

Incidentally, I personally have bought 2 x MR2?s for the Touring Car class. Both are available for sale to be raced in our series . These will range from approx £1k – £1.5k race ready. Please ring me for details 0044 – 7791 – 976672
